PoseGlow Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 September 2026

The short version

PoseGlow works entirely on your phone. Your photos, your camera feed, your face scan and your answers to the setup questions never leave your device and are never sent to us. We have no servers and no accounts.

Two things do leave your device, and neither is your content. Your subscription, if you have one, has to be managed by the app store and our payments provider, because a subscription cannot work otherwise. And we record anonymous usage events — which screens are opened, which buttons are tapped — so we can see where the app confuses people, along with crash reports when it breaks.

Usage events describe what you tapped, never what you shot. No photograph, no camera frame and no face or body data is included in any of it.

Who we are

PoseGlow is published by Yeap Digital Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom.

For anything in this policy, including privacy requests, contact yeap@yeapdigital.co.uk.

Yeap Digital Ltd is the data controller for the limited personal data described below.

What stays on your device

All of the following is created on your phone, stored on your phone, and never transmitted:

Photos you take. Every shot is saved into the app’s own storage. If you grant permission, a copy is also saved to your device’s Photos library, in an album called “PoseGlow”. Both copies live only on your device. We cannot see them.

The camera feed. The live preview is processed on your device in real time and is never recorded or transmitted.

Pose matching. When a pose outline is on screen and automatic capture is switched on, the app takes a silent frame roughly once a second, measures where your body is in it, compares that to the outline, and then deletes the frame immediately. These frames are never shown, saved or transmitted. This is described in full in “How pose matching works” below.

Your face scan (“your angles”). An optional feature that uses Apple’s TrueDepth camera and face tracking. It is described in full in “Face data and the TrueDepth camera” below.

Scene detection. The app takes a silent photo to work out what kind of setting you are in, analyses it on your device using Apple’s Vision framework, and then deletes that photo immediately. It is never shown, saved or transmitted.

Motion data. While the camera is open, the app reads your device’s gyroscope to tell whether the phone is being held steady. These readings are used moment to moment and are never stored or transmitted.

Your setup answers. If the app asks you setup questions, your answers are stored on your device and used to order pose suggestions. They are never sent anywhere.

Favourites and app settings. Stored on your device only.

How pose matching works

PoseGlow can compare you to the pose outline on screen and take the photo for you when you match it. This section explains exactly what that involves, because it means the camera is being read while you pose rather than only when you press the shutter.

What happens. While a pose outline is displayed and automatic capture is switched on, the app captures a silent frame about once a second. On the device, using Apple’s Vision framework, it works out the approximate positions of body joints in that frame — shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, and the position of the head. For close-up poses, where the body is not fully visible, it also measures where your face is in the frame, how large it is, and which way it is turned and tilted. Those measurements are compared to the pose outline, and the frame is then deleted.

What is kept. Nothing. The measurements exist in memory only, for as long as it takes to produce the on-screen match indicator, and are replaced by the next reading. The frames are deleted immediately. Neither the frames nor the measurements are stored or transmitted.

Automatic capture. When the app judges that you match the pose, it takes a photograph by itself and saves it the same way as any other shot — into the app, and into your Photos library if you granted permission. This is the only circumstance in which the app takes a photograph you did not press the shutter for. You can switch automatic capture off using the control in the camera’s top row; with it off, no matching frames are captured at all and the app only takes photographs when you press the shutter or use the timer.

What this is not. These measurements describe a posture: where limbs and the head are in a single frame. They are not a facial template, not a biometric identifier, and not capable of recognising or identifying you or anyone else. They are never used to identify or authenticate anyone, never used for advertising, and never used to build a profile.

Face data and the TrueDepth camera

PoseGlow includes an optional feature called “your angles”, a short guided face scan that suggests which head angle and lighting suit you best in photos. This section explains exactly what that feature does. The scan is entirely optional — you can skip it and use the whole app without it.

What is collected. When you run the scan, the app uses your device’s front camera and Apple’s ARKit face tracking, which on Face ID devices uses the TrueDepth camera. From each frame the app reads only a small set of measurements:

  • the angle your head is turned (yaw and pitch, in radians)
  • Apple’s face capture quality score for the frame, a number between 0 and 1
  • an estimate of the direction the light is coming from, relative to your face
  • whether a face is currently visible at all

Face measurement outside the scan. For close-up poses, the pose matching described above also measures where your face is in the frame and which way it is turned. Those readings are used to compare your position to the pose outline, exist in memory only, and are never stored or transmitted. The same limits in this section apply to them.

What is not collected. The app does not collect, create or store a face map, a face mesh, a depth map, a facial template, facial landmarks, or any other biometric identifier. No image or video of your face is saved, and none is transmitted. Camera frames are processed in memory, moment to moment, and discarded immediately. On devices without a TrueDepth camera the app falls back to taking a temporary still, measuring it on the device, and deleting that file straight away.

What is kept. When the scan finishes, the app saves a small text file on your device containing only the result: which side it suggests you favour, a short written summary such as “left 3/4” or “soft right-side light”, three scores from 0 to 100 for the three positions, how many measurements were taken, and the date. That is the entire record. It contains no image and nothing that could identify you.

What it is used for. The result is used for one purpose only: to order and suggest poses inside the app. Face data is never used to identify or authenticate you, never used to recognise you or anyone else, never used for advertising or marketing, and never used to build a profile about you.

Sharing. Face data is never shared with any third party. It is not sent to us, to RevenueCat, to Apple, or to anyone else. No third party has access to it. It is not used for anything beyond the pose suggestions described above, and it is never sold.

Where it is stored. Only in the app’s own private storage on your device. It is never uploaded to any server. We operate no servers that could receive it.

How long it is kept, and how to delete it. The result is kept on your device until you delete it. You can delete it at any time from the settings screen using “delete all my data”, or by running a new scan, which replaces it, or by deleting the app, which removes it along with everything else the app stored. Because it never leaves your device, deleting it on your device deletes it completely — there is no copy anywhere else for us to remove.

Sharing photos yourself

You can share a photo from the gallery using your device’s standard share sheet. When you do, the photo is handed to whichever app or service you choose, and what happens to it after that is governed by that service, not by us. We are not involved in the transfer and never receive a copy.

What leaves your device

Subscription information, anonymous usage events, and crash reports. Nothing else.

Apple. Any purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or handle your payment details. Apple’s handling of your data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

RevenueCat. We use RevenueCat, Inc. to manage subscriptions and to check whether a subscription is active. When you open the app, RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier that it generates for your installation, along with technical information such as your device type, operating system version, app version, country and purchase history. This identifier is not linked to your name, email address or any account, because PoseGlow has no accounts. This check runs whether or not a subscription is currently being offered in the app. RevenueCat acts as our data processor. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.

RevenueCat is based in the United States, so this information is transferred outside the United Kingdom. That transfer is covered by the standard contractual clauses in our agreement with them.

Google (Firebase). We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, from Google, to understand how the app is used and to find out when it crashes.

Analytics records events such as opening a screen, opening the camera, choosing a pose, taking a photo, sharing a photo, finishing the face scan, or tapping subscribe. Each event carries the name of the thing that happened and short labels describing it — for example whether a pose was chosen from the library or suggested by the app. It also includes technical information Firebase collects automatically: device model, operating system version, app version, country and a random identifier generated for your installation. We have switched off Firebase’s collection of advertising identifiers, so no advertising ID is gathered and none of this is used for advertising or shared with advertisers.

Crashlytics records crash reports: what the app was doing when it stopped, the device model and operating system, and the sequence of screens leading up to the crash. This exists because the app uses the camera, body detection and face tracking heavily, and some failures leave no trace anywhere else.

Neither includes your photographs, your camera feed, your pose measurements, your face scan result, or the answers you gave during setup. Events name actions, not content. Google’s handling of this data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

No photos, no camera data, no body-position data and no face data are ever included in any of this.

What we never collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers. We do not collect biometric data or facial recognition data of any kind. We do not show adverts. We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not sell or share personal data with anyone for their own purposes.

We do use analytics, described above, but only to count anonymous actions inside this app. It is not linked to your identity, is never used to build a profile of you, and never contains your photographs, your pose measurements or your face scan.

Permissions the app asks for

PermissionWhyIf you decline
CameraRequired. The app is a camera app; the preview, pose guidance, pose matching and the optional face scan all need it.The camera features cannot work.
Photos (add only)Optional. Saves a copy of each shot to your Photos library.Photos are kept in the app only. Nothing else changes.

The Photos permission we request is add-only: it lets the app save new photos and does not give it the ability to read your existing library. You can change either permission at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Legal basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, we rely on:

  • Contract — processing subscription data is necessary to provide a subscription you have purchased.
  • Legitimate interests — keeping the app working correctly and preventing fraudulent or erroneous access to paid features.

Everything that stays on your device, including your pose measurements and your face scan result, is under your control and is not processed by us at all.

How long data is kept

Data stored on your device is kept until you delete it. You can remove it in two ways:

  • In the app, from the settings screen, using “delete all my data”. This deletes your in-app photos, your face-scan profile and your saved preferences. Copies already saved to your Photos library are not affected, because those belong to your photo library rather than to the app — delete them there if you want them gone.
  • Delete the app. This removes everything the app stored on your device.

Subscription records held by RevenueCat and Apple are kept in line with their own policies and our legal and accounting obligations.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the EEA you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Because we hold no account and no directly identifying information, we may need you to provide the anonymous subscription identifier or your App Store receipt so we can locate any records that relate to you.

To exercise any of these rights, email yeap@yeapdigital.co.uk.

If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children

PoseGlow is rated 16+ on the App Store and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and publish the new version at this address. Material changes will also be noted in the app.
