The short version
PoseGlow works entirely on your phone. Your photos, your camera feed, your face scan and your answers to the setup questions never leave your device and are never sent to us. We have no servers, no accounts and no analytics.
The one exception is your subscription. Managing that requires talking to Apple and to our payments provider, and it is the only part of the app that sends anything anywhere. That data is about the purchase, not about you or your photos.
Who we are
PoseGlow is published by Yeap Digital Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom.
For anything in this policy, including privacy requests, contact yeap@yeapdigital.co.uk.
Yeap Digital Ltd is the data controller for the limited personal data described below.
What stays on your device
All of the following is created on your phone, stored on your phone, and never transmitted:
Photos you take. Every shot is saved into the app’s own storage. If you grant permission, a copy is also saved to your device’s Photos library, in an album called “PoseGlow”. Both copies live only on your device. We cannot see them.
The camera feed. The live preview is processed on your device in real time and is never recorded or transmitted.
Your face scan (“your angles”). An optional feature that uses Apple’s TrueDepth camera and face tracking. It is described in full in the section “Face data and the TrueDepth camera” below.
Scene detection. In some modes the app takes a silent photo to work out what kind of setting you are in, analyses it on your device using Apple’s Vision framework, and then deletes that photo immediately. It is never shown, saved or transmitted.
Motion data. While the camera is open, the app reads your device’s gyroscope to tell whether the phone is being held steady. These readings are used moment to moment and are never stored or transmitted.
Your setup answers. The preferences you give during onboarding are stored on your device and used to order pose suggestions. They are never sent anywhere.
Favourites and app settings. Stored on your device only.
Face data and the TrueDepth camera
PoseGlow includes an optional feature called “your angles”, a short guided face scan that suggests which head angle and lighting suit you best in photos. This section explains exactly what that feature does. The scan is entirely optional — you can skip it and use the whole app without it.
What is collected. When you run the scan, the app uses your device’s front camera and Apple’s ARKit face tracking, which on Face ID devices uses the TrueDepth camera. From each frame the app reads only a small set of measurements:
- the angle your head is turned (yaw and pitch, in radians)
- Apple’s face capture quality score for the frame, a number between 0 and 1
- an estimate of the direction the light is coming from, relative to your face
- whether a face is currently visible at all
What is not collected. The app does not collect, create or store a face map, a face mesh, a depth map, a facial template, facial landmarks, or any other biometric identifier. No image or video of your face is saved, and none is transmitted. Camera frames are processed in memory, moment to moment, and discarded immediately. On devices without a TrueDepth camera the app falls back to taking a temporary still, measuring it on the device, and deleting that file straight away.
What is kept. When the scan finishes, the app saves a small text file on your device containing only the result: which side it suggests you favour, a short written summary such as “left 3/4” or “soft right-side light”, three scores from 0 to 100 for the three positions, how many measurements were taken, and the date. That is the entire record. It contains no image and nothing that could identify you.
What it is used for. The result is used for one purpose only: to order and suggest poses inside the app. Face data is never used to identify or authenticate you, never used to recognise you or anyone else, never used for advertising or marketing, and never used to build a profile about you.
Sharing. Face data is never shared with any third party. It is not sent to us, to RevenueCat, to Apple, or to anyone else. No third party has access to it. It is not used for anything beyond the pose suggestions described above, and it is never sold.
Where it is stored. Only in the app’s own private storage on your device. It is never uploaded to any server. We operate no servers that could receive it.
How long it is kept, and how to delete it. The result is kept on your device until you delete it. You can delete it at any time from the Profile tab using “delete all my data”, or by running a new scan, which replaces it, or by deleting the app, which removes it along with everything else the app stored. Because it never leaves your device, deleting it on your device deletes it completely — there is no copy anywhere else for us to remove.
What leaves your device
Only subscription information, and only because a subscription cannot work otherwise.
Apple. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or handle your payment details. Apple’s handling of your data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat. We use RevenueCat, Inc. to manage subscriptions and to check whether your subscription is active. When you open the app or make a purchase, RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier that it generates for your installation, along with technical information such as your device type, operating system version, app version, country and purchase history. This identifier is not linked to your name, email address or any account, because PoseGlow has no accounts. RevenueCat acts as our data processor. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat is based in the United States, so this information is transferred outside the United Kingdom. That transfer is covered by the standard contractual clauses in our agreement with them.
No photos, no camera data and no face data are ever included in any of this.
What we never collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, or advertising identifiers. We do not collect biometric data or facial recognition data of any kind. We do not use analytics or tracking software. We do not show adverts. We do not profile you, and we do not sell or share personal data with anyone for their own purposes.
Permissions the app asks for
| Permission | Why | If you decline |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Required. The app is a camera app; the preview, pose guidance and the optional face scan all need it. | The camera features cannot work. |
| Photos (add only) | Optional. Saves a copy of each shot to your Photos library. | Photos are kept in the app only. Nothing else changes. |
The Photos permission we request is add-only: it lets the app save new photos and does not give it the ability to read your existing library. You can change either permission at any time in the iOS Settings app.
Legal basis for processing
Under UK GDPR, we rely on:
- Contract — processing subscription data is necessary to provide the subscription you have purchased.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the app working correctly and preventing fraudulent or erroneous access to paid features.
Everything that stays on your device, including your face scan result, is under your control and is not processed by us at all.
How long data is kept
Data stored on your device is kept until you delete it. You can remove it in two ways:
- In the app, from the Profile tab, using “delete all my data”. This deletes your in-app photos, your face-scan profile and your saved preferences. Copies already saved to your Photos library are not affected, because those belong to your photo library rather than to the app — delete them there if you want them gone.
- Delete the app. This removes everything the app stored on your device.
Subscription records held by RevenueCat and Apple are kept in line with their own policies and our legal and accounting obligations.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EEA you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Because we hold no account and no directly identifying information, we may need you to provide the anonymous subscription identifier or your App Store receipt so we can locate any records that relate to you.
To exercise any of these rights, email yeap@yeapdigital.co.uk.
If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Children
PoseGlow is rated 16+ on the App Store and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and publish the new version at this address. Material changes will also be noted in the app.
