PRIVACY POLICY FOR SOFTREST
Effective date: 21 August 2026
Last updated: 21 August 2026
SoftRest (“the app”), listed on the App Store as “SoftRest: Yoga Nidra NSDR”, is
published by Yeap Digital Ltd (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the
limited information described below.
Contact: yeap@yeapdigital.co.uk
THE SHORT VERSION
SoftRest has no accounts, no sign-in, and no way to enter personal information.
All audio is bundled inside the app and plays offline. We never see who you are,
and we cannot connect anything in this policy to you as a person.
The only information that leaves your device is anonymous usage statistics — how
often the app is opened, which session length was chosen, and whether a session
was completed — collected through Google Firebase Analytics so we can understand
whether the app is useful.
We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or use it to track you across
other apps or websites.
WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT
To be explicit, SoftRest does not collect, request, or have access to:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or postal address
- Any account or login credentials — there are no accounts
- Payment information — the app has no purchases or subscriptions
- Your microphone, camera, photos, contacts, or calendar
- Health, fitness, sleep, or medical data
- Precise location
- Advertising identifiers (the IDFA). SoftRest contains no advertising SDK and
presents no App Tracking Transparency prompt, because it does not track you
across apps or websites owned by other companies.
INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
The app stores a small amount of information on your device: a flag
recording that it has been opened at least once, a count of how many sessions
you have finished, and a note of which review prompts have already been shown
and when.
The count exists only to decide when to ask you for an App Store review. It is
not shown anywhere in the app, and no record of individual sessions is kept —
there is no history, no dates, and no way to reconstruct when you rested. None
of it is personal information, none of it leaves your device, and all of it is
deleted when you delete the app.
ANALYTICS
SoftRest uses Google Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase),
provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4,
Ireland.
What is collected
How the app is used. How often it is opened, which session length was chosen,
whether a session was paused, finished, or ended early, and how far through it
got. Nothing more — there is nothing in SoftRest to type, say, or record, so
there is nothing of that kind for us to collect.
Information Firebase collects automatically, as part of the SDK’s normal
operation:
- A randomly generated app instance identifier, created when the app is
installed. It is not your name, your Apple ID, or a device serial number, and
it is not shared with other apps. - Device model, operating system version, app version, and device language
- An approximate location (country or region), derived from your IP address at
the time of the request - Automatic events such as first open, session start, and app updates
We do not enable Google Signals, demographic and interest reporting, or any
advertising features of Firebase.
Separately, if you have chosen in iOS Settings to share analytics with app
developers, Apple provides us with aggregated statistics about crashes and
usage. That is Apple’s own measurement, not ours, and you can turn it off at
Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Why we collect it, and our legal basis
We use these statistics for one purpose: to understand whether people find the
app useful — how many sessions are started, which length is preferred, and how
often sessions are finished rather than abandoned. This tells us what to
improve.
Our legal basis under the UK GDPR and GDPR is legitimate interests (Article
6(1)(f)) — specifically our interest in maintaining and improving the app. We
consider this proportionate because the data is pseudonymous, minimal, never
used to make decisions about any individual, and never combined with information
that identifies you.
How long it is kept
Firebase retains event-level analytics data for up to 14 months, after which it
is deleted automatically. Aggregated, non-identifying reports (such as total
session counts) may be kept indefinitely, as they cannot be linked to any device
or person.
International transfers
Google processes analytics data on servers that may be located outside the
United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, including in the United States.
Google relies on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the
UK International Data Transfer Addendum for these transfers. Google’s own
handling of this data is described at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
and https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Turning it off
You can stop all analytics collection by deleting the app. Deleting the app also
discards the app instance identifier permanently — a later reinstall generates a
new one and cannot be connected to the previous one.
CHILDREN
SoftRest is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information
from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has used the app and you have
concerns, please contact us.
SECURITY
The app makes no network requests other than sending analytics events to Google,
which are transmitted over encrypted connections. The three links in Settings —
this policy, the licence agreement, and our contact address — open in your
browser or mail app rather than inside SoftRest, and we receive nothing when you
use them beyond any email you choose to send us.
Because we hold no accounts and no personal data, there is no account to
compromise and no personal record for us to lose.
YOUR RIGHTS
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you have the right to
access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal
data, and the right to data portability.
We have to be straightforward about a limitation here: the analytics data we
receive is pseudonymous and contains nothing that identifies you. We have no way
to find “your” records from an email address or a device, and we will not ask
you for additional information in order to try. Under Article 11 of the UK GDPR,
this means we may be unable to act on a request that depends on identifying you.
The practical way to erase your data is to delete the app, which stops
collection and orphans the existing identifier.
You have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office
(https://ico.org.uk) or to your local supervisory authority.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If we change what the app collects, we will update this policy and the “Last
updated” date above before the change takes effect in a released version.
