Speed Reader: Cheetah Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy
Cheetah – Speed Reader · Last updated: 22 May 2026

Cheetah (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a speed-reading app published by Yeap Digital Ltd (UK). This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and your rights. We have designed Cheetah to collect as little data as possible.

1. Summary

  • We do not require an account and we do not collect your name or email address through the app.
  • Your reading progress, highlights, files, imported text, and settings are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to servers operated by Yeap Digital Ltd.
  • We use a small number of third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising measurement, and subscription management, each described below.
  • We do not sell your personal data.

2. Information collected and how it is used

2.1 Data stored locally on your device

The app stores the following data in a local SQLite database on your device. This data never leaves your device and is only accessible to the app.

  • Library: book metadata (title, author, source URL) and chapter text for books you add.
  • Reading progress: current position (token index, percentage) within each book.
  • Highlights: text passages you have highlighted.
  • Settings: your preferences (reading speed, font size, theme, notification preference, etc.).
  • Daily reading statistics: words read, average WPM, reading time — aggregated per calendar day.

If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently erased.

2.2 Firebase Analytics (Google LLC)

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate (e.g. which screens are visited, how often the reader is opened). Firebase may collect:

  • Pseudonymous device identifiers and an app-instance ID.
  • Coarse device information (model, OS version, language, country).
  • Event data such as screen views and in-app feature usage.

This data is processed by Google and may be stored on Google’s servers in the United States and other countries. Google’s privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy. We do not link Firebase Analytics data to any personally identifiable information.

2.3 Meta (Facebook) SDK – advertising measurement

We run paid advertising campaigns on Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram) to find new readers. The app includes the Meta Audience Network SDK (react-native-fbsdk-next) solely for measuring whether our ads are working. We do not show ads inside the app.

On first launch, the app presents Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. If you grant permission, the SDK may access your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) to attribute app installs to specific ad campaigns. If you deny permission, the IDFA is not made available for tracking. Limited app event data (such as installs and sessions) may still be processed for measurement in accordance with Meta’s SDK settings and Apple’s rules.

Meta’s data practices are governed by Meta’s Privacy Policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy). You can manage your advertising preferences at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device.

2.4 RevenueCat – subscription management

Cheetah offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions managed through RevenueCat. RevenueCat processes your Apple App Store purchase receipt and subscription status. RevenueCat may collect:

  • A pseudonymous RevenueCat user ID (generated automatically, not linked to your Apple ID or any personal data).
  • Purchase and subscription events (start, renewal, cancellation, expiry).
  • Device locale and platform version for subscription analytics.

RevenueCat does not have access to your real name, Apple ID email, or payment details. Those remain with Apple. RevenueCat’s privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Subscription billing and refunds are handled entirely by Apple. To manage or cancel your subscription, go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your device.

2.5 Content sources – Wikipedia and Standard Ebooks

When you browse or import content from Wikipedia or Standard Ebooks, the app makes network requests to those services. These requests include your IP address as a normal part of internet communication. We do not log or store your IP address or query history on our servers.

  • Wikipedia’s privacy policy: foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Privacy_policy
  • Standard Ebooks is a volunteer-run project and does not collect personal data.

2.6 Safari Share Extension

If you use the Cheetah Share Extension to send a webpage or article to the app, the URL and page title are temporarily stored in a shared app group container on your device. This data is read by the main app on next launch and then immediately deleted. It is never transmitted to our servers.

2.7 Local notifications

If you enable daily reading reminders, the app schedules notifications entirely on-device via iOS’s local notification system. No notification tokens or device identifiers are sent to our servers.

2.8 Photo Library (Save Share Card)

When you tap “Save” on your reading share card, the app writes the generated image to your iOS Photo Library. This requires the Photo Library Add permission. We only write to your library when you explicitly tap Save; we never read from your photo library.

3b. App Store privacy disclosures

Our App Store privacy disclosures include data processed by third-party SDKs integrated into the app. If you have questions about how specific data types are handled, please refer to the relevant third-party privacy policies listed in Section 2 or contact us directly.

3c. Advertising and analytics opt-out

You can limit advertising tracking at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device. You can also reset or limit analytics and ad personalisation settings through your Apple device settings and, where applicable, through your Google account settings at myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy.

4. Data sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data with third parties only as described in Section 2 (the SDK providers listed above) and as required by law. We do not share data with advertisers directly — the Meta SDK communicates independently with Meta’s servers subject to your ATT preference.

5. Data retention

All local data (reading progress, highlights, settings) is retained on your device until you delete the app or clear app storage. Firebase Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months by default. RevenueCat retains purchase event data for the duration required to manage your subscription and as required by law. You may contact us at any time to request deletion of data held by us.

6. Children’s privacy

Cheetah is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because Cheetah does not store personal data on our own servers, the most effective way to exercise these rights is to delete the app (which deletes all local data). You have the option to delete all the local data from Settings screen without deleting the app as well. For data held by third-party SDKs, please refer to the respective privacy policies linked in Section 2.

Residents of the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom have additional rights under GDPR / UK GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

8. Security

All data stored locally is protected by iOS device-level encryption. Network requests to Firebase, RevenueCat, Wikipedia, and Standard Ebooks are made exclusively over HTTPS. We do not operate our own servers that store user data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notice or App Store release notes. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
